I have joy and a passion for working with minority, biracial, and 1st/2nd/3rd generation/immigrants that experience the challenges of  adjusting to new/blended cultures, unfamiliar surroundings, and the isolation of being a speaker of a different language.  As a native Japanese speaker, I am happy to conduct sessions in Japanese.  In English or Japanese, my clients find it easy to talk to someone that truly understands them without judgement and without the strong influence of the dominant culture.  We will work together to identify reasonable solutions to current challenges in a way where you feel understood, and appreciated for the unique challenges they face.  Together we will talk about how living in a new country may impact your emotions, self-esteem, relationships, and values.  We may also find there are some similar things between the two cultures.  My clients appreciate my gentle, warm, and supportive nature.  I make clients feel safe so they can stay vulnerable and talk about things that are very hard to speak of.  We develop a connection based on trust and mutual understanding that can allow for long term growth and happiness.

I enjoy working with adults, couples, and children under 12 years old on issues related to identity, low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, divorce, and relationship struggles.  Clients I work with enjoy being seen, heard, and challenged to deepen self-awareness, overcome sadness, low self-esteem, shame, guilt, and worry. It is very hard to figure out who you are alone. I can help to bridge the gap between who you are now and who you would like to be in your life.

I'm currently taking clients virtually/online and in person at our Santa Monica office.  Many of my clients find online sessions very effective and convenient.  Some prefer more traditional therapy in person.  You have the choice of what feels best for you.

 

We have a special Out-of-Network concierge insurance billing service for our clients that offers many benefits that cannot be found in other private practices.  We will check on your coverage before you start therapy, explain what will be covered, and file claims for your reimbursement so you don't have to!
